PREP: Physician Referral and Education Program

5. What if there are other dentists in my area wanting to market to physicians?
Because we live in a free-market economy we can’t constrain or prohibit other dentists from wanting to work with physicians. It is possible that you may discover that other dentists have figured out the same idea, and that they also want referrals from physicians. It is important to remember that there are more than enough patients to go around. All you should realistically expect is to have one, two, maybe three (or more?) physicians sending you a few patients every now and then. When you start out, your first goal is for one. Then two! The point of the entire process is to position yourself as a knowledgeable professional who can help them. Those that do this best, and have a bit of charisma and personality to what they offer, will have the advantage.
6. If there are other PREP dentists, how do I make myself different?
MDReferrals has developed multiple styles, combinations, and formats for its materials. While the content is largely the same, its look and feel can be made different. Your logo, photo, and biographical sketch are obviously unique to you. How you go about implementing this program and how you interact with physicians will make you different. 7. How many referrals should I realistically expect to get from medical doctors?
It is not possible to answer this answer since everybody has a different expectation of what is realistic! The main point here is that while getting referrals is wonderful, the goal is to position yourself in the marketplace. There is a specific and proven strategy to accomplish this as outlined in The Physicians Marketing Handbook. Because your goal is to be included in the referral networks of your chosen physicians, you must realize it takes a certain amount of time for this to happen, if it will happen at all. Be flexible with the process and be ready to add or change your list. Getting referrals is a calculated process, not an event.

The FaxDrip newsletter is at the heart of the ongoing communication process that keeps you literally “in touch” with your target medical offices. Because it doesn’t have an envelope, it has a “bill-board” effect. It’s real purpose isn’t to be studied - it is to be seen! It is another way we have of regularly reminding the recipient that we are still around, that we are knowledgeable, and that we can help them.

9. How do I start?
The Getting Started Checklists & PREP Coach located on the member’s site, will guide you through the list of tasks to accomplish as you implement this program. Many dentists and team members believe that they have to understand the entire program and the philosophies involved before they start to do anything. This is a dangerous delay of time. Some of the initial steps are rather perfunctory and don’t require a deep understanding to accomplish. (Example: Photograph, Bio, and Logo submittal, make a list of physicians, etc.).
10. Is there coaching available?
MDReferrals has prepared a series of short PREP-Coach© sessions and other resources which will help the dentist and dental team to understand better what you should be doing as you begin this journey. These resources will be provided on a CD-ROM sent to you shortly after your sign up, and they will be available as a download on the web site. MDReferrals has identified a few coaching programs around the country that excel at coaching dental offices and their hygiene departments. 11. Is there a warranty or guarantee?
Yes - we warranty our products to be free of defects in printing and workmanship and will replace any materials or resources found to be defective with same or similar materials. Likewise if any materials become damaged in shipping or through acts not in your control, we will replace these materials. If after receiving your completed and personalized materials, and within 45 days from receipt, you return all materials complete, postage paid and in original condition (where non-personalized portions can be restocked and used elsewhere), you will receive a full refund minus a 10% restocking fee and minus a 15% fee for personalized and non-reusable printed materials. [Be reminded that by the time you receive your materials and resources, you will have provided exactly what you want printed, and will have approved all necessary steps of the process along the way. Since we can’t guarantee against situations and circumstances we can’t control (such as “changed my mind”, inaction, procrastination, lost interest, cold feet, lack of vision, and poor leadership), there is no guarantee after you have begun the program or have materials committed to use.
